🎙️TMIT 20: Daring Greatly

Climbing our own mountains 🧗🏔️

Hi friends,

This week’s episode is our most personal yet. It is about the kind of vulnerable courage Brené Brown calls daring greatly.

In Episode 20, we unpack one of the boldest lines in the Wholehearted Parenting Manifesto:

“The greatest gift that I can give you is to live and love with my whole heart and to dare greatly.”

For Danielle, that means owning the truth that motherhood, while transformational, is not her whole life. She is giving herself permission to pursue personal ambition without guilt or apology. Watch Danielle speak her truth here.

For Greg, daring greatly means stepping into emotional vulnerability as a dad, letting the kids see the real work behind the scenes instead of just the polished version.

We dig into:

  • Why daring greatly looks different for every person

  • What it means to climb our own mountains while still being present with our kids

  • Letting go of guilt, comparison, and the myth of “doing it all”

  • Allowing our children to witness us pursuing meaningful goals

  • Seeing family as a base camp, not the entire expedition

  • Our personal experiments with outsourcing, emotional honesty, and being intentional with our time

This one is for every parent who has ever wondered if it is okay to want more, to dream bigger, or to build something for yourself while still being deeply connected to your family.

The Most Important Thing about Daring Greatly is remembering that life is about climbing our own mountains.

P.S. We couldn’t wait… we’ve decided to drop our final episode in the WPM series this Thursday, 07/31!

Why? Because Thursday marks 3 months of The Most Important Thing! 🎉 We’re feeling grateful to each of you for joining us, every message you’ve sent, and every story you’ve shared. We started this podcast to explore how ambitious, busy families can build culture at home, and these past three months have only confirmed how much this conversation matters. Thank you for being here with us. We’re excited to bring you so much more!

So look out for TMIT 21: See and Be Seen in your podcast player on Thursday!

🧡 TMIT Teammates #3: Noah Zaltz

Last week, we sat down with our friend and fellow investor Noah Zaltz for a thoughtful edition of TMIT Teammates.

We met Noah through work, but over time, we discovered that our conversations about building meaningful companies naturally extended to building meaningful families. Noah discussed defining what “normal” looks like for his kids, the balance between structure and flexibility, and why labeling exceptions, such as adventure days or treats, has become a cornerstone of the Zaltz family culture.

We also explored how his upbringing shaped his perspective on consistency, agency, and the difference between “out there” and “in here”—the idea of home as a place of grounding and safety.

It is a conversation about intentional parenting, the power of norms, and creating a family base camp that supports climbing your own mountains.
